Gelatin gummies
Ok, these are a game changer! They are such a fun way to get nutrients in, especially for the kids! They’re extremely versatile so feel free to switch up the flavours & use different juice & sweeteners with the recipe! Lots of trial & error finding your family fav! I’ll toss some flavour ideas below!
All you need for these is a Gelatin powder - I get mine from Perfect Supplements! Some organic juice & a sweetener of choice! You can get creative & add cut up fruit & such on top of your gummies too! You can use silicone trays to make cool shapes for your gummies or you can just use a glass container with a lid and cut it up when it’s done!
Gelatin is something our ancestors consumed often because they ate nose to tail! Today we do not eat that way & are therefore lacking in so many nutrients that certain parts of the animal give us! Nose to tail - 50% of the animal is Gelatin! It’s crazy! It is an amazing natural source of collagen & protein (Not a main source of protein though).
Gelatin helps to improve gut health, bone health, improves sleep, immune function, promotes good hair, skin & nail health, joints, etc!
Here are some flavour ideas:
Orange juice & milk
Lemon juice & grated ginger
Orange juice & cherries
Lemon juice, grated ginger & manuka honey
Tart cherry & vanilla
Cherry & Apple cider vinegar
Apple juice, cinnamon & maple syrup
Blueberry & lemon
Mango juice & coconut cream
Coffee, cream & maple syrup
To make your gummies…
You will need:
1 cup of pure organic juice of choice
3 tbsp Gelatin powder
2-3 tbsp of sweetener of choice
For example if you wanted to make some immunity gummies you could do:
1 cup lemon juice
2-3 tbsp manuka honey
To actually make your gummies:
Pour your juice into a pot & sprinkle your Gelatin powder on top (do not mix) and let it bloom for about 10-15 mins.
Turn on the heat & bring to a low boil while mixing. Once it’s bubbling you can turn it off.
Add your sweetener of choice & mix well.
Pour mixture into a glass container or a silicone mold tray, cover & put in the fridge over night. You can put in the freezer but for no longer than an hour or they get a weird texture I find.
Take it out of the mold & if you used a glass container then you can cut into desired shapes. We store in a mason jar and try to eat within 1-2 weeks!
